Welcome to Dryden Elementary School

The qualities of resilience and confidence are fostered in students by holding high expectations throughout their academic careers. When our students are taught to think critically and creatively using all of their resources, they tackle problems with confidence.

Principal’s Message

Dear DES Families and Community,

Thank you to everyone who attended our annual PK-2 Halloween parade. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you, too, for all of those who helped with any parties classes may have had. We were very lucky this year, and had many high school and middle school students spend a half-day with us here at DES as part of their service learning project. We appreciate their help as well. This is another example of one of our Core Beliefs that positive relationships and partnerships are essential.
We started two PBIS initiatives this past month. Several classes earned their Popping with PRIDE popcorn party. This has been an exciting time for all those involved. Thank you to the DES PTA for purchasing an electronic popcorn machine for our use. In addition to earning Popping with PRIDE classroom parties, several students have earned a Lion PRIDE Award. I am proud to announce the following PRIDE winners for the month of September:
Kindergarten – Brennan, Madison, Mila, Ryder, and Charlotte
Grade One – Curtrell, Colin, Ross, Willow, Elliott, and Ross
Grade Two – Natalie, Olivia, McKenzie, Promyss, and Kayla
Grade Three – Jaleighsa, Noah, William, Emili, and Colton
Grade Four – Gianna, Wyatt, Alyson, Bryce, and Justin
Grade Five – Anthony, Rebecca, Kennadie, James, and Owen
We are excited by both of these celebrations, and look forward to many more to come. As always, if you have questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
Dawn Wenzel, Principal

Fire Prevention

If it is October, it means Fire Prevention Week! Our outstanding and supportive Dryden Firefighters were on hand at Dryden Elementary School on October 9th to help students and staff understand ways to prevent fires and what to do in a fire emergency. Each day during Fire Prevention Week, our local firefighters greeted students and staff as they entered the building. This was a great way to start each day. The firefighters assisted students and staff during a fire drill. The firefighters also conducted several presentations for students. Dryden Elementary School appreciates everything our Firefighters did for us this year during Fire Prevention Week! We look forward to next year!

Picture ID

Please bring picture ID with you every time you come to the school. Even if you are a person who comes to the school regularly, it is important for you to be prepared to show ID every time you arrive. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our school community safe.

Volunteers

Volunteers are an important part of our school. Parents volunteer in many different areas from assisting in the preparation for school celebrations/events, to reading with individual students to chaperones on field trips. All volunteers that work directly with students must complete a volunteer registration form and be approved by the school administrator and the Board of Education prior to any volunteer events. The registration forms will be sent home in Friday folders the first week of school or you may pick up a volunteer registration form at the school office. The approval process does take a few weeks. We encourage you to register as a volunteer as soon as possible. Volunteers must complete a new form every school year.
